Hebe is known as the green garden plant that blooms well into autumn. Addenda®’s rich Hebe collection is constantly evolving. The collection now includes six varieties. This summer, the growers’ association introduces its customers to the improved Hebe Petita® series and the new Hebe Petita® Red and the Hebe Donna® Alina.
Addenda® grower and breeder Rudolf Hopmans: “I am always looking for improvement within our Hebe varieties. For a consumer, this is not immediately apparent, but I look very precisely at product development, for example that the plants flower longer, flower more beautifully or keep longer. I also like to see that the Hebes are hugely popular with bees and butterflies, that specification is also important. For next season, we managed to offer new and improved Hebes. Every big or small positive development again contributes to a nice Hebe experience among consumers. That’s what we do it for!”
After years of breeding, the improved varieties of Hebe Petita® are ready for their introduction. The growth of the plants is now more spherical and compact. The leaves are pointier and the flower is larger (2-3 cm) than its predecessor. The Hebe Petita® collection is available in the smaller pot sizes 10.5 and 12 cm. Whereas the Hebe Petita Blue was already improved last year, the same now applies to the colour White. In addition to the above-mentioned colours, an additional colour is now being added: Hebe Petita® Red. This new colour has striking red-pink flowers.
The colourful Hebe Donna® series is being expanded with a spectacular dark pink variety called Alina. This new variety has the characteristic large panicles of no less than 5 to 7 cm that grow nicely above the crop. The plant itself stays nicely green, has many branches and has nice coarse and glossy leaves.
From the beginning of July, Addenda®’s complete Hebe range will again be available in various pot sizes, from 10.5 cm to 50 cm.
